Virginia Meissner Sno-Park had a bountiful snow year that lifted the spirits of skiers and snowshoers.A huge thanks to our groomers Lev Stryker, Chris Bowman, and Sam Cordell. They did an excellent job of keeping up with the prolific snowfall. The Pisten Bully was a true work horse this season. Because of the community support we have accomplished a lot of great things this winter. We added a fifth day of grooming this season, we hope to continue this trend. We were able to groom 5 days/week all Christmas Break and added some extra holiday Mondays during the season. We were able to host worthwhile ski groups and events that included: Bend Endurance Academy, all local high school teams, Oregon Adaptive Sports, XC Oregon Learn to Ski Day, Latino Community Association beginners, Moonlight Snowshoe and the annual Luminaria!
Thank you for the support! We could not do it without this fantastic community.
We want to thank our fantastic Sponsors Meissner Nordic sponsors are valuable contributors to our community organization. Their support helps us meet big project goals. This year we helped honor our sponsors by having a Sponsor Day. This gave our sponsors an opportunity to show the community their products and services. We plan to make Sponsor Day an annual tradition. Thank you again Sponsors for supporting this community organization.
Up and Coming
Just because the snow is fading away it does not mean that the Meissner Board stops working. This season we have worked with the Forest Service to update the Meissner Nordic trail map. This map is now available on paper, computers and smartphones. This summer we plan to add junction numbers at ski trail junctions and update some of the trail signs.
We know the community was disappointed about the mid-season suspensions of grooming on the Wednesday Trail. We are continuing to work with the Forest Service on this and our goal is to resume grooming Wednesdays Trail next season. We are also hoping to add a few new connector trails to create new loops on the upper part of the trail system.
We have had a core group of volunteers working very hard helping with projects and we SO appreciate their work, however, there is always more to accomplish and we can use your help! If you are hoping to be more involved in your community ski area this summer and next winter please contact Ellen Wayte-541 654-1208 or go to our website: (meissnernordic.org) if you are interested. Also keep an eye out on the Facebook page for updates on trail maintenance parties and other work parties.
Corporate Matching Gift Programs
If any Meissner Nordic supporters are employed by companies with matching gift programs, that’s a great way to double the value of your donation to the club. This season Meissner Nordic received much-appreciated matching gifts from Intel, Microsoft, and Chevron. Now that we have experience with corporate matching gift programs we’ll be happy to answer questions and assist as needed so feel free to contact us at email@example.com.
Meissner Nordic has an Android app that serves up the grooming report, weather, trail descriptions, and more. Thank you Ron Deems!
